GAMECUBE NEWS

29th JAN 2002 - GC Release Date Set
   Top Of Page
Nintendo have finally confirmed the date for the European release of the Gamecube......3rd of May, that's the date, nearly two months after the Xbox the released and at £150, about half what the Xbox will cost. So what games will be out for the release, well how about Luigi's Mansion, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Star Wars: Rogue Leader, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, FIFA: Road To The World Cup, Burnout, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and Batman for just 9 of the 20 release titles. Don't worry about shortages either because there will be 'approximately one million' Gamecubes available. So it looks like th console war is going to heat up and Nintendo will be in the thick of it.

Rumors around the net are leading people to believe that the Nintendo GameCube will be out in March (UK release). This would mean one thing, that it would go directly head-to-head with the Xbox which is set to be released on 14th of March. However, Nintendo are due to make an official announcement of the release date of the Gamecube on the 5th of February.

The latest sales figures are out and it seems that any celebrations by Nintendo were made too soon, because they are dropping off the pace in terms of their sales figures, selling three times less of what they were in the beginning while Xbox sale remain steady. Although these are not worldwide figures. Follow this link to computercndvideogames.com and compare for yourselves.

   24th NOV 2001 - Gamecube Best Seller
   Top Of Page
Well it is now official, Nintendo Gamecube is now the best selling next-generation console, selling over half a million units during it's first week of availability. It sold at more than double the rate of the Xbox and 25% faster than the PS2. Obviously the fact that it cost $100 less than it's competitors helped somewhat, but it still sold over half a million units, now that's saying something.

21st NOV 2001 - Gamecube Low Key Launch
   Top Of Page
Despite the quite low-key launch of The GameCube (to be honest, I wasn't sure when it was released), Nintendo are claiming that their machine have sold more than double the amount of Microsoft's machine. Nintendo have shipped 700,000 GameCubes and claim that by the week-end they will be sold out. This could mean 1 of two things; 1-that the Xbox hasn't sold at all, or 2-that the GameCube is on more wanted list's than people thought. Either way it seem that the GameCube will not go unnoticed in this console war.

   5th NOV 2001 - Mario on Gamecube
   Top Of Page
The plumber is back, on Nintendo's latest machine - the Gamecube. The same is going to be similar to previous adventures-in terms of gameplay, but of course with much better graphics and running at 60fps. The usual colorful graphics and music are obviously going to be involved (it wouldn't be Mario without them). But there may be no Luigi in this version seeing as he has his own game...We'll have to wait and see You can see a more in depth view of it at GameCubest.com.
