REVIEW: Deus Ex was the game that turned my head towards the RPG scene. Before Deus Ex, I wouldn't have given any RPG a second look, but that has all changed, but Deus Ex isn't like your ordinary RPG, it's more of an evolution into a new type of gaming genre. With elements of FPSs, RPGs, adventure games and some sneaking around, this game is unlike any other.

You play a nano-augmented special agent named JC Denton who is on his first live mission, from this moment, the whole story starts to open up to you piece by piece, this starts by meeting your older, more experienced brother and picking your first weapon, then basically you are thrown head-first into the mission. I will try not to ruin the story for people, but this game gives you a lot of choices and will make you think about your actions, maybe not all the time, but there are moments were you may think "should I have done that", which is part of the brilliance of deus Ex. The story is a futuristic one with conspiracy and all of that. You really have to play it to understand it.

So what about the technical aspect of the game? Well, the graphics are not brilliant (especially considering there are games like Max Payne around), but they are by no means bad. The characters lip-sync, blink and all of that, the wide free-form levels do look very realistic, generally the graphical side of the game is solid. The AI in the game is very well done, enemies will be alerted to your presence if your too noisy, if they see one of there enemies killed or knocked out, or if they feel that there is something suspicious going on. They often go to sound alarms if there are any about, but usually they will just engage you and if they are losing will retreat.
Since this game is around a year old, it should be relatively cheap and is well worth buying if you can get it.
